At the heart of the work is the fate of Jennie, a girl with a remarkable heart. Kind-hearted and sincere, she strives to make a living through honest work and to grow into a noble human being. Yet, evil forces entangle her destiny and violate her pure love.

The novel “Jennie Gerhardt” is considered one of the author’s finest works, devoted to human destinies in a world of inequality.
